Hi! Hello! Hey! What’s up? I’m Cher Power, a TEFL-qualified ESL teacher from the U.K., Ireland, and Singapore. Lessons with me are a collaborative and interactive experience as I believe that YOU, the student, should be able to have a say in what you want to learn and how you want to learn it. I also try to make lessons fun and engaging by gamifying them where possible – as Mary Poppins pointed out: “In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun. You find the fun, and snap! The job’s a game!”
I’ve had a foot in the education and writing industry since I entered the workforce, starting off with developing curriculum plans, educational scripts, and worksheets for various projects and tutoring centers to freelancing as a transcriber, proofreader, ghost writer, and blogger. I decided to get some formal credentials for ESL teaching in 2015 and got TEFL certified in Prague with Spěváček. Since then, I’ve taught English to young learners, teenagers, and adults across all levels, though I now primarily have students who are in high school, university, are in the workforce, or retired.
In my spare time, I go the cinema, film festivals, concerts, and travel a lot. Fun fact: I’ve been collecting cinema tickets since I was a kid and have 4 scrapbooks of them in my collection so far!
